The organization is managed by a board of seven trustees and a working Committee while continuing to increase the span of activities including social services to the needy e.g. educational kits and dry ration distribution, eye checkup camps, natural calamity relief, medical checkup camps, cloth distribution, tree plantation and various other charitable and social welfare activities.

The Trust in order to have more thrust towards social service, community services, have wider footprint in areas of religious events, cultural events, social services, sports events, Literary events and scientific innovation.

Brief History

“Navodaya” in Sanskrit, translates to “new dawn” or “new rise,” symbolizing a fresh emergence.

In the context of Indian tradition and culture, Navodaya represents hope, optimism, and enlightenment. It’s associated with the idea of growth, self-awareness, and intellectual awakening.

Navodaya Trust is a social-cultural welfare body operating from Thane. Its core mission is to create ripples of compassion with empathy. Navodaya’s cultural significance extends beyond its literal meaning, representing aspirations for a better future and hope for positive change.

The Trust undertakes various social projects yearly and simultaneously celebrates the culture & tradition of the Bengali community.

Keeping the quintessential Bengali root thriving and encouraging the next generation to learn, participate, and contribute to the various rituals & programs with the belief that the strength of a community lies in its roots and the branches that grow from them are with the aspirations for a better future, hope for positive change and to bring about celebrations for new beginnings.

Through its social initiatives, Navodaya Trust symbolizes & actively contributes to serving society for a better tomorrow. Like an emerging light spreading joy and smiles across people in every stratum of society.

Community Puja

Durga Puja and other pujas forms a major socio-religious component of Bengali Culture. The pujas and the celebration thereof are always juxtaposed with services to the physically and mentally challenged, cultural events with ethnic touch. These bring immense joy and sense of belonging amongst the members and their families.

Sports and Games

Sports is a both a source of joy and healthy competition as much as it is useful for health and character building. Navodaya has participated in Football Competitions, – winning a few, – and Cricket tournaments. The Trust also has its own Annual Sports Day  The Trust now wants to expand further with more events, – both indoor and outdoor.

Promoting Art

 Art is promoted in the form of Dance, dance-drama, art competitions

Social Service

Known also by the nom de plume: Sharing is Caring” represents a major set of events, round the year focusing on serving the needy through donations, community services, supporting students with books, bags and stationery; medical camps, distribution of clothes – both new and used (cleaned and ironed). Members make huge donations to support the good cause.

Picnic and Naboborsho

It is essentially to spend a day in the lap of the Mother Nature, wherein the members spend quality time with the members and their families. Bengali New Year, Naboborsho is celebrated to keep touch with the mother tongue of majority of the members.
